This time VFX has done everything "Alone"

Horror film “Alone” produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak, Abhishek Pathak, Pradeep Agarwal and Prashant Sharma, and directed by Bhushan Patel (“Ragini MMS 2”), will be releasing in theatres on 16th Jan.

The story revolves around conjoined twins Anjana and Sanjana, who had promised to be together always and how the death of one sister leads to a series of chilling incidents that leads the surviving sister to believe that the ghost of her dead twin is haunting her. The film stars Bipasha Basu as Anjana and Sanjana and TV actor Karan Singh Grover, who makes his Bollywood debut with this film.

VFX man Soumen Das’s brief was to create a prosthetic layer for the conjoined twins at the hip and also ensure they are bodily attached in a realistic manner in the scenes they appear together.

Soumen revealed that since Bipasha had to play both the sisters and they had to be in one frame as conjoined, a composite merging process was used that combined live footage from the sets and computer-generated images (CGI). The process took approximately seven months, as there were complex scenes, but the VFX team is elated with the end result.

“‘Alone’ was a unique experience as we had to take care of the distances and other technicalities while shooting the conjoined twins.”

Though, “Alone” was a tough call for Basu, who had essayed normal double roles earlier in “Dhoom: 2” and a couple of forgettable films.

“The shooting was difficult as I had to be joined with my body double, first as Sanjana, and after a change of hair and make-up as Anjana,” she said in a statement.

The trailer of "Alone" has received more than 6 million views on YouTube. The much-anticipated horror film, which trended on No.1 position on YouTube for more than a week, has continued its winning streak and has become the most watched trailer in the horror genre.
